Selection Committee for Nomination of President

Dear Devotees:

Jai Shri Krishna.

As we wind down an exciting 2013 and move past one of the biggest events held by our community in Bakersfield, we now need to plan for the next year and beyond.

The by-laws of Hindu Temple of Kern County dictate a transition in the Board of Directors every two years. As prescribed by the by-laws, in the last meeting on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, the Board of Director has selected a committee to nominate the President and members of the Board of Directors for 2014. This committee consists of the following members:

1. Dr. Pramod Srivastava (Current President)
2. Mr. Kanna Meyyappan (Current Secretary)
3. Dr. P. R. Chandra
4. Mr. I. P. Patel
5. Mr. Mahesh Patel

This committee will meet and nominate a President prior to the general body meeting, which will take place in around November. The Board consists of total of 9 members, and the term for new Board will begin on January 1, 2014. The nominating committee will retain or re-nominate at least three members of the Board, and the slate will be presented at the General Body meeting. To be a member of the Board, one must be a member for the last two contiguous years, and be over the age of 18.

If anyone is interested in running for the President of the Board of Directors, I would urge them to contact any one of the committee members as soon as possible.
